Why we chose the membership model
What is a membership-based health practice?
You are in control of your health.
We are a direct care medicine model, and this is a membership based office. It is a modern healthcare model in which insurance is removed from the patient-provider relationship. Direct care allows for patients to have direct access to their health care provider and limited office staff so that your care is directed by your health care provider and not a “team” of people. Typically, the patient panel size is limited so that the provider has more time and energy to take care of the people on their panel. In an insurance based model, panel sizes can be as large as 1500-5000 patients. In direct care, panel sizes are typically 50 patients to a few hundred. CCWW is on the smaller side, sometimes called a “micro practice”. Patients typically have direct access to their provider between visits, and eliminates the need for you to come in to be seen for minor health concerns or questions.
Our Mission
Camel City Women’s Wellness is an integrative women’s health practice that serves women across the lifespan. We provide trauma informed care with solution focused treatment plans. We focus on educating, empowering, and delivering evidence based high quality medical care to our patients, by placing high value on continuing education, medical research and technologies, community engagement, and compassionate care of our patients.
Why a Membership Model?
At Camel City Women’s Wellness, we’ve chosen a membership model because it fosters a more supportive, flexible, and holistic approach to care. Unlike a traditional fee-for-service model, which often limits the frequency and type of visits, our membership structure encourages regular check-ins, whether they’re face-to-face, virtual, or over the phone. This allows us to stay closely connected, ensuring that you’re not only cared for when you’re unwell but that we’re also tracking your well-being during healthier times. By removing the barriers of fees for each visit, you’ll feel empowered to reach out whenever you need us, rather than waiting until things worsen.
Building a Relationship-Centered Approach
Studies show that over half of North Carolinians feel overwhelmed by coordinating their own care and avoid seeking help until they’re unwell. Our membership-based care is designed to ease this burden, helping you with care coordination and staying connected throughout your health journey. This model aligns with our philosophy that a strong patient-clinician relationship can be a powerful tool in health and healing. Dr. Andrew Weil, a pioneer in integrative medicine, noted that sometimes the most effective “treatment” is the relationship itself. Our commitment to knowing you well means we’re here to support you not only as patients but as partners in wellness.
